A Social Purpose Business (also known as a social enterprise) is a company whose enduring reason for being is to create a better world. It is an engine for good, creating social benefits by the very act of conducting business. Its growth is a positive force in society. РUnited Way Social Purpose Institute

What we do:

Own and operate businesses (Junk 4 Good, Evergreen Recycling, and Simitu – a construction and development company) that focus on creating jobs and financial opportunities for individuals, while also funding community-focused projects. All three of these businesses are part of the Redemptive Developments division of JPWC and compete in the same sector as other for-profit businesses across Alberta.

Our businesses support the community in three important ways:

  • Create local employment opportunities with a living wage and benefits.
  • Fund important JPWC initiatives such as the JPWC Community Health Centre.
  • Recycling over 3,000,000 LBS of waste a year.

In the last ten years, JPWC Social Purpose Businesses have put over $500,000.00 back into community-focused projects.
